Congratulations to sophomore, Madison Bartley on being The Flyer athlete of the month! Bartley plays power forward for Fairmont girls varsity basketball. She has been playing basketball for 11 years. She started playing because both of her parents and her grandfather played. “Athletics and basketball has changed my life because it takes a lot of my time. You also have a lot of homework that you have to fit in. I have met a lot of new people from basketball,” Bartley said.
The most challenging thing throughout her career has been learning how to compete against more advanced players. “I would advise other student athletes to always stay positive and be there for your team. If you and your team are struggling, try to fix it. Be a leader and have fun!”
Bartley’s proudest moment as an athlete has been learning to be a positive leader for her team. “This season, I want the basketball team to go to districts and state and to have a positive rest of the year record,” Bartley said.
