Varsity Baseball team finishes their memorable season

The team huddles between innings during the May 3 game.

The Fairmont Varsity Baseball team finished the 2012 season with an overall record of 8-16 and a GWOC record of 3-7.  However, for some of the players on the team, it wasn’t about the record but the memories they made throughout the season.

“Although our record wasn’t what we wanted it to be, the bonding and memories will always be there like no other season I’ve ever been a part of,” said junior Robert Bowling.  “We had great team chemistry.”

Despite the season not going as planned, the team had their shining moment against Moeller after playing 11 innings, which resulted in winning the game 7-5. “Everybody contributed to the win,” said first baseman and senior Ryan Barnette.

The following team awards were given at the end of the season: Most Valuable Player: senior Terrell Dorsey, Sportsmanship Award: senior Bryan Prouty, Coaches’ Award: senior Josh Oxley; and Most Improved: junior Deven Gannon.
