NFL Week 4: The Lions look good … the Bills look lucky

NFL Week 4: The Lions look good ... the Bills look lucky

Well, the National Football League is already through its third week, and there were a lot of upsets last weekend. So let’s get right down to it.

The game of the week was the New England Patriots at the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were down virtually the entire game, but then they capitalized on a couple of rare (and I mean rare) mistakes by Patriots QB Tom Brady. Brady not only threw a interception that was returned for a touchdown, but he also threw three other interceptions that boosted the Bills and allowed them to win by a last-second field goal. That pushed the Bills to a 3-0 record and into the lead in the AFC East. So are the Bills here to stay and play?

The Detroit Lions were also impressive this last weekend, coming back from a 20-point deficit at halftime to beat the Minnesota Vikings in overtime. That sounds a lot like the Vikings’ Week 2 loss when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came back from a 17-point deficit at halftime and beat the Vikings on a 4-yard touchdown run by LeGarrette Blount.

The Minnesota Vikings should actually start quarterback Christian Ponder this week over quarterback Donovan McNabb. The Vikings are a joke this year and probably will be for the next couple of years.

And the Lions are looking good this year. They’re a young team that looks like they could stay evenly paced with the teams like the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bears and many more good teams. Give them a couple of years and they’ll be playoff contenders.

The Tennessee Titans lost their best wide receiver, Kenny Britt, for the season with a torn ACL. That hurts the Titans’ chances of making a playoff run. But before the season even started, the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts looked like they wouldn’t be front runners in the AFC South this season. Now you can count them out of the playoff picture before the season is half over.

So now I offer you my winning picks for Week  4. The winners, as always, are in green.  I went 12-4 last week, and I’m 30-18 on the season so far.
