If practice makes perfect, then this may be a big year for Kendall Young, a 2010 graduate of Fairmont High School.
Young is appearing again on NBC’s The Sing Off, in which 16 a cappella groups compete for $200,000 and a recording contract. The third season of the series kicked off on Sept. 19, 2011, and will air on Mondays at 8 p.m. on WDTV-TV, Channel 2, until a winner is selected.
Last year, Young appeared on season two of The Sing-Off with Fairmont High School’s a cappella group Eleventh Hour. This year, she’s performing with Delilah, an all-female group comprised mostly of contestants from the show’s first two seasons. The Sing Off is hosted by Cincinnati native Nick Lachey, and the judges are Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman.
The Rolling Stone magazine reported on Tuesday that Delilah “blew the hinges off a cover of Bruno Mars’ Grenade. The performance elicited a standing ovation from Bareilles and Stockman, as well as accolades from all three judges on their flawless dynamics.” Entertainment Weekly reported that Delilah’s performance was “easily the best of the night.”
Young is now a singer/songwriter living in Nashville, Tenn., and studying at Belmont University.
