Student Council puts used goods to good use at Garage Sale

The Fairmont student council will get back to the fundraising basics with a community-wide Garage Sale for local charities. Members of the Kettering community donated clothing, books and other items at the KFHS main gym July 28 where members from each grade’s student council and the United Student Body sorted and priced the merchandise. The donations ranged from the sentimental to the absurd with items such as children’s toys and even a Santa Clause costume for dogs. When the groups stopped sorting at 7:00 p.m., they had filled the main gym with thousands of used goods.

The proceeds from the sale of these items will go to the charities selected for the Fairmont Spirit Chain fundraiser, which include the Kettering Backpack Program, Goodwill/Easter Seals Program at Daybreak Teens Shelter, and We Care Arts. Every year, members of the USB elect three charities to give the money to.

“We want to do as much as we can to raise as much as we can for them,” said senior USB President Monica Wagner.

The Garage Sale in the KFHS Main Gym  will open Friday, July 29, at 8 a.m. and last until 3 p.m.
