Career Tech students’ projects dominate Sinclair competition

On May 11, Career Tech students competed in the Tech Prep showcase at Sinclair Community College. Seven teams from schools all over the Miami Valley entered their projects to compete, out of which the Fairmont students won five awards. 

Fairmont  juniors Savannah Roemer, Paige Porter, Sierra Breeze, Chelsie Walhay and Christa Sapp won third place in Early Childhood Education for their “Getting Kids into Art” project. In Information Technology, juniors Jamie Demitt, Trey Hamilton, Nick Stoiber and Christian Smith won second place for their “Fairmont Bookstore Website.” Seniors Marwa Al-Hamdani and Erica Belshe and junior Karlie Williams dominated the Allied Health competition, taking first place for their project called “Autism Spectrum: Disorder-Thinking Inside the Box.” In Marketing, seniors Madeline Lehrner and Taylor Bingaman’s “Improving the Cell Phone Policy at Oakwood High School” also won first. In Construction Trades, “The Atkins Family Project” by seniors Tyler Young and Katie Weiser placed first.
