Fairmont students succeed at DECA District Competition

Kettering Fairmont DECA, a marketing organization, competed in the 2011 DECA District Competition on Feb. 15. Several of the students not only placed but also qualified to compete at the State Competition.

Jordan Thomson received 1st place and is a state qualifier for Accounting Applications, while Kacey Willis placed 1st and is a state qualifier for Apparel and Accessories. Vince Sant placed 4th in Automotive Services, and Tyler Clark placed 2nd and is a state qualifier in Business Services. Madeline Lehrner placed 1st and Connor Darnell placed 3rd and they are both state qualifiers in Marketing Management.

Emily Johnson placed 2nd and is a state qualifier in Food Marketing. Taylor Bingaman placed 3rd and is a state qualifier in Quick Serve Restaurant Management. Chase Loges placed 1st and is a state qualifier, and Bra’Onna McLemore placed 5th in Restaurant & Food Service Management: Hospitality Cluster Test. Also, Lindsay Petry placed 4th in Retail Merchandising.

Several Fairmont duos also placed well in Team Management Decision Making. In Buying and Mechandising, Kyetra and Katana Williams placed 2nd and are state qualifiers, while Ja’Shae Jones and Kami Hyde placed 3rd. In Financial Analysis: Finance Cluster Test, Taylor Barr and Sara Moore placed 1st and are state qualifiers. For Hospitality Services, Lindsay Taylor and Rachel Hester placed 3rd. In Marketing Communications: Marketing Cluster Test, John Rohrbach and Jake Gentile also placed 3rd. In Sports and Entertainment Kristina Fothergill and Jackie Duffy earned 1st place and qualified for state. In Travel & Tourism, Brittany Davis and Kylie Reynolds placed 1st and are state qualifiers as well.
