Peer Mediation group seeks new mediators

Peer Medation adviser Cheryl Abraham is looking for mediators for the 2010-2011 school year. The mediators normally help two or three students by sitting in a quiet room and letting them talk. “You talk to students and let them repeat and rephrase what they say so they can hear and realize what they’re saying,” said senior mediator Amy Hartmann. Discussions are confidential and focused on listening.

“Being a mediator is a great experience,” said Hartmann. “I get to meet new people and I enjoy helping them out.”

To become a mediator, contact Cheryl Abraham in the East Unit guidence office to get an application. Applications are accepted in October and special training will take place in November.
