People say the world of dreams is a place of solitude. However, Leonardo DiCaprio and company offer a different idea in the film Inception.

The movie features DiCaprio as Cobb, the world’s most skilled extractor, a person who steals ideas in another person’s dream, and his mission is to plant an idea in a wealthy businessman’s head to dissolve his father’s company. The process is called Inception, and it requires a dream within a dream within a dream.

Inception is an instant classic, a movie that pushes the boundaries of where the mind can go and what it can do. I am a massive fan of Inception and have been since I first saw it. The perfect blend of action, story and outright thinking, Inception provides a dreamlike environment that keeps the viewer guessing about what’s a dream and what’s not.

The idea behind Inception is certainly strange, but with a cast of actors such as DiCaprio as Cobb, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as his partner Arthur, and Ken Wantanabe as their client Saito, Inception perfects the idea in a way not often seen in films. The film itself is directed by Christopher Nolan, noted for his work on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, the blockbuster hits in 2005 and 2008, respectively.

All in all, I find Inception to be one of the best films I’ve seen in a long time. It’s yet another great film by DiCaprio, with great direction from Nolan. I highly recommend seeing this film as soon as possible, and then watching it again and again.

What kind of score does Inception get?

Quality – 5/5

Length – 5/5

Characters – 5/5

Timelessness – 5/5

Average – 5/5

Let me start off by saying that this movie was amazing! Yet, while this review does a good job of praising the work of actors such as DiCaprio and Gordan-Levitt, I think it leaves praise of the truly inspirational work of screenwriter/director Christopher Nolan lacking. Christopher Nolan, I believe, is the finest screenwriter/director in Hollywood at this point. He knows how to write a good story with interesting characters and a plot that makes you take a good look at your own values. I believe his work is that of a genius, and I look forward to “The Dark Knight Returns” as well as any other films he produces in years to come!

I am – and have always been – a fan of movies which, upon reaching the credit scroll at the end, make you think, “Now, wait a minute… what?!?” From my first time through “The Sixth Sense” and “The Others,” through movies like “Memento” and now “Inception,” it takes a strong writer, a strong director, and a strong cast, all working together, to create a film that keeps you in suspense BEYOND the “reveal” at the end that most movies give you. While movies like “The Blair Witch Project” and “The Ring” gave plenty of startling moments and were less than “case closed” upon the credit roll, they simply didn’t have the strength of “hiding” the “secret” until the last frame of film the way “Inception” and others have done. I agree 100%, this is a movie that lends itself to multiple viewings, as each time you see something new that you missed the first time through … or the second, third, or fourth!
