The Fairmont Boys’ Varsity Basketball team finished 6-18 on the year. Despite the record, the team had key wins over rivals Centerville and Beavercreek during the season and bonded as well.

Senior Aaron Abbott enjoyed his last games in Trent Arena. “I really liked my team,” said Abbott. “We may have not gotten the record we wanted, but we played well together and we all got along, too.”

A big game for the Firebirds came late in the season against the Beavercreek Beavers.

“Beating Beavercreek felt great. I know a lot of guys on the team, and it was nice coming off the court with the W,” said Abbott.

Head Coach Hank Bias was proud of the overall improvement his team showed during the season.

“This may be the team that improved the most from start to finish of any team I have ever coached. I am very proud of this group of young men,” said Bias. “It was a season of bests and firsts.”

The team awards were:  Coaches Award: Grant Powers; Sportsmanship Award: Greg Osborne; Most Improved Player:  Ethan Westbeld; Junior Norris Award: Greg Bergman; and Most Valuable Player: Keivante Tanner.

Keivante Tanner also was named to the GWOC Central 2nd Team, and Ben Van Oss received a GWOC Special Mention
