The Fairmont Boys’ Golf team wrapped up their season with an 8-3 record overall and a 3-2 GWOC Central record. They also retained the Firebolt Cup for the 3rd season in a row.

Matt Stotler, the team’s new head coach, felt that the team had a very successful season. “I have started to shape, build, and turn this historic program into a GWOC-contending program. I had a hard-working group of young men that went out every day and gave it 100 percent,” said Stotler.

Senior Chet Powers was named to the GWOC Central First Team, while junior Jacob Van Leeuwen was named to the GWOC Central Second Team. Senior Daulton Cooper received a GWOC Central Honorable Mention.

Powers was ranked sixth out of 102 golfers for the All-GWOC team. Van Leeuwen placed second as an individual qualifier out of sectionals, and in districts he tied for 45th place out of 96 total players.

The overall team special awards for this season were: Coach’s Award: Chet Powers; Sportsmanship: Jacob Van Leeuwen; Most Valuable Player: Chet Powers; and Most Improved: Chance Conley.
