Boys’ bowlers finish 2nd in Districts, advance to State

The Fairmont Boys’ Bowling Team is headed to the OHSAA State Tournament on Friday, March 2, 2012, after finishing second out of 24 teams in the Southwest District Championships last weekend.

The top individual finishers for the Firebirds were senior Ronnie Pohl, who scored 700 in three games to finish in 2nd place, and junior Zach Foster, who knocked down 657 pins in three games to finish in 7th place. 

 The Fairmont Girls’ Bowling Team, appearing in the District competition for the first time, fell just 19 pins short of qualifying for State. The girls finished in 7th place and ended their season with a record of 16-6. The top finishers for the Firebirds were freshman Jessica Wolfe (15th place, 656 pins) and junior Brooke Swallows (33rd place, 528 pins).
