Firebird girls head to State basketball tournament again

The Fairmont High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball team is now the Regional champion for the second year in a row. The Firebirds defeated the Springboro Panthers 55-51 on Friday, March 11, at the Nutter Center to secure a trip to the Final Four. The win makes this year’s team the winningest in school history with a record of 25-1.

The Firebirds head to Columbus Friday, March 18, to compete against Toledo Start at 6 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Tickets for Friday’s Division I State Semi-Final game will go on sale Tuesday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in front of the Athletic Office. They will remain on sale through Thursday at 4 p.m., after which no more will be available. Tickets are $8 if purchased in advance and $10 at the door.

Students wishing to go to the game on the Spirit Bus must purchase a ticket and turn in a permission form to the Athletic Office no later than Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
