A school record of five Firebird wrestlers will compete for titles at the Ohio State Wrestling Championship on March 4-5 in Columbus, Ohio.
They are juniors Justin Kihn (3rd place, 112 pounds) and Tommy Kimbrell (1st place, 160), sophomores Matt Denlinger (1st place, 130) and Garrett Connor (2nd place, 189), and freshman Josh Parrett (4th place, 119).

The Fairmont High School wrestlers had to finish in the top 4 at the Fairfield District competition on Feb. 26 in order to qualify for State.

“Now the goal is to get kids on the podium at state,” said Varsity Wrestling Head Coach Frank Baxter. “Fairmont has never had two place winners in one season in the history of the program. Our goal is to change that this weekend.”

Other District qualifiers were senior Justin Sage, junior Wolfgang Henger, sophomore Mark Tulloch and freshmen Brandon Boykin and Vinny Long.
