Marching Firebirds win Hamilton band competition

Fairmont’s Marching Firebirds won a six-foot traveling trophy on Saturday, Sept. 26, after being named grand champions of Hamilton’s Band-O-Rama marching band competition. The competition was hosted by Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio.
The Marching Firebirds also brought home trophies for Best Overall Music, Best Overall Visual and Best Overall General Effect, along with being awarded first place in Class AA.
Bands competed for awards along with a rating from Ohio Music Education Association judges, following OMEA guidelines.
Fairmont Marching Band co-director Michael Berning commented on the accomplishment of the band. “It was our best performance of the year. I’m very proud of all of our Marching Firebirds.”
