A big “thank you” to Fairmont High School students who were at the Fairmont/Alter basketball game last Saturday night at Trent Arena. Your behavior was excellent, and your school spirit was great! Keep up the good work! Know that people were watching and noticing your behavior. Your respect for the Arena (Our House) and your team was exemplary!

Student says ‘Thanks!’ to the FHS custodians

I’m in the library right now and there’s a janitor working on the light fixtures. I don’t know if there’s a Custodian Appreciation Day, but if there isn’t, we should definitely start one. (If there is, we should make it more well-known). So I would like to write a letter of thanks to every janitor that ever lived.

Dear Janitors/Custodians,
I don’t think many people tell you this often, but you are superheroes. You fix our lights, plow the snowy sidewalks during the winter, and mop up vomit. Without your dedication and hard work, our school system would surely be in shambles. The floor tiles would be broken and unwaxed, our windows would be cracked, and our doors would be forever locked. Not very many people are willing to do what you do, but you still get up early and stay late, even though we take you for granted. So thank you, janitors. Fairmont loves you.

Fairmont grad is ‘amazed at creativity’ in stories

I haven’t been on The Flyer website in a little while, but I have to say I am very impressed!! I read through a lot of the stories and was amazed at the creativity you guys have. Also, the graphics and pictures for the stories are incredible. Keep up the good work!

Great site, but what about Winter Guard coverage?

Hey! You guys are doing a great job with the website and The Flyer in general, but I was thinking maybe sometime the Winter Guard could be mentioned? The Marching Band/Color Guard itself is hardly EVER mentioned, and it’s quite a letdown when you go through six months of hard training, sweat, blood (literally), and many tears, win awards that have your school’s name on it and never get recognized. So … I was hoping since Winter Guard season is in, that maybe we could get noticed?

‘The Flyer’ is doing great journalism

I just skimmed through about every article you guys had and I have to say I’m very impressed. I don’t get on the website frequently but when I do, I can’t get off. You guys are doing a great job keeping the tradition of The Flyer alive with great journalism and great spirit. It really means a lot to Flyer alums like me to see these things. I’m also thankful that it’s up online so I can keep tabs on everything. Your stories are looking great so far and I’m excited to see how they progress in the near (or far) future.
Keep up the fantastic work.

School plays are amazing

Hey, everyone. I’m a freshman tring to get a play called “Burlesque” to be one of the plays, but sadly they picked “Play On.” I’m OK with it, but it seems like they could pick something that’s in this time frame. Well anyway, I just wanted to say the plays that are done in this shool are really amazing. I can’t wait to hear all about “Our Town” that everyone’s been talking about. I hope the play is as good as what we saw in drama class.

Why not an article on breast cancer?

Why don’t you write about breast cancer this week on The Flyer. I think it would teach kids about how important it is. I hear that some people think it is a joke and they laugh about it.

I loved the video Friday morning on Good Morning, Fairmont – the one where they showed the part at Band Camp. I thought whoever did that is very good at what they do.

I love the new features to the website! The sports scores at the top of the home page look awesome!
